Just finished his segment with Letterman. After a typical nonsense session with Bill O'Reilly, Dave closed it by asking Bill about all the scsndals plaguing President. It didn't go as Billo planned.
Letterman asked O'Reilly if Obama was handling the scandals properly. B O'R said he didn't think Obama was dealing with them at all, because Obama thinks all Americans are just home distracted by all their toys and iPads and games and all he had to do was wait for them to forget everything. That is the Obama strategy.
The audience laughed, thinking he was joking...but Billo was not amused, and glared at the camera. Letterman laughed at him, too, saying he really didn't believe that it was truly Obama's strategy to just wait out iPad users. But Bill was serious, thinking he was slamming Obama. The audience didn't buy into his b.s. They laughed at him.
(No actual quotes above...just my late night observation commentary. Feel free to post a video or transcript when it's posted).

(15,388 posts)With Stewart and Colbert, they're friendly with O'Reilly, which puts him somewhat at ease, and their humor is such (and Bill's not that quick on the uptake humor-wise) that it takes Bill 20 seconds to realize that he's been put down or had his talking points destroyed. Letterman is more direct, and he likes putting Bill off his game as soon as possible. I remember appearances where Bill couldn't keep his right leg from constantly tapping because he was nervous, and he got constantly outsmarted by Dave. I think the next time after that, he came out with a plastic shield and sword to be, "funny," and the first thing Dave said to him (in a voice just dripping with sarcastic disdain) was, "Oh, that's nice. You brought toys."
