and one vendor had a slide that referenced a study that showed 18% of traffic on the Internet are hackers, SIP Spam bots, DDOS attack type traffic, etc...


Of course the NSA isn't "collecting every packet" sent over the Intertubes anyway so it's kind of a mute point LOL


Like they give a shit about what you post on DU when fundie nuts are running around Pakistan wanting to kill the infidels...

while a suppose a point could be silent the more common phrase is 'moot point' which means a point that is a suitable subject for a sub-argument but in the overall scheme of things will have no importance. That seems to be how you used the phrase - and for whatever its worth I agree with you, if for nothing but the sake of economy they would have to filter out the crap.

...and they called the corner "Moot Point". I made a sign for the property. When they passed away, I renamed my recording studio "Moot Point Recording": and yes, I still use the sign.

As to your point, I agree: they might collect great big gobs of data, but they can only pay attention to a small sliver of it.
