Of course the NSA isn't "collecting every packet" sent over the Intertubes anyway so it's kind of a mute point LOL

(2,667 posts)while a suppose a point could be silent the more common phrase is 'moot point' which means a point that is a suitable subject for a sub-argument but in the overall scheme of things will have no importance. That seems to be how you used the phrase - and for whatever its worth I agree with you, if for nothing but the sake of economy they would have to filter out the crap.

(13,986 posts)...and they called the corner "Moot Point". I made a sign for the property. When they passed away, I renamed my recording studio "Moot Point Recording": and yes, I still use the sign.
As to your point, I agree: they might collect great big gobs of data, but they can only pay attention to a small sliver of it.
