If the phone companies were not scared of the NSA punishing them, I think they would....

tell them to go fuck themselves.

I am sure there is off the record pressure and threats from the government to force them to give up this data.

Even if this data is not protected by the constitution, that does not mean the NSA needs to get it.

This 100% blind trust of the NSA by many DU members is really scary. This same group must of bought in on the yellow and red alerts and the claims of preventing 50 terror attacks. And I am sure they believed Colin Powell at the UN also.

Being gullible is not a positive trait.

... that they have 100% trust of the NSA.

There is a difference between having a discussion about 'law' and what a person's 'opinion' of the law is.

I think it is scary that some folks seem to have imaginary ideas of what others think when in reality they don't actually know what most folks 'think'.

just because you can.

You have been defending everything this week just by saying that it is legal.

The NSA and Obama is still wrong to be allowing it. Legal or not.

5. I believe I haven't given my opinion on if it is right or wrong - ony if it is legal or not.

When we see folks that have misinformation I think it's up to all DUers to present the facts, that does not automatically mean that the presenter agrees or disagrees with a law or program.

There's nothing wrong with discussing the 'facts' which can be done without stating a personal opinion.

He was convicted of 19 counts of insider trading in Qwest stock on April 19, 2007[1] – charges he claims are U.S. government retaliation for his refusal to give customer data to the National Security Agency in February, 2001.[2]

Qwest also lost a bunch of government contracts for resisting.
