Folks, the American version of the Taliban needs to be shouted down. Nothing like training the next generation of domestic abusers to engage in controlling their spouses and others to show God's love.

'Spanking for Jesus' Is Exactly as Fucked Up as It Sounds
Christian Domestic Discipline, or CDD as its adherents call it, is a movement that seeks to carry out God's will. Which specific plan of God's? Oh, you know, just that all women obey their husbands fastidiously a dynamic that CDD thinks is best maintained through doling out out corporal punishments. Its few thousand practitioners, however, claim that it's not domestic abuse.
The Christian Domestic Discipline Yahoo! group, which is private, opens with a quote from Hebrews 12:11: "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." And, whom are we to train into righteousness and peace? Women only (duh)! The group's description goes on to say, "We offer a LOVING approach to all who wish to learn and grow in a traditional Male, head of household, female submissive, Christian Domestic Discipline relationship." One last caveat:
This is not a typical "spank" site. We are NOT a dating service, a list for personal ads, bratting, erotic stories, or alternate lifestyles. We do not discuss Sadomasochism, the disciplining of children, same gender relationships, or Fem domination/male submission.

(776 posts)I flew home to meet my sisters husband to be. I shook his hand and said "If you hit her I will kill you." My sister stopped breathing. He however said "I am a big brother myself so I agree.". So my question is how the fundies get the big brothers to drop the ball.

(37,364 posts)to drop the ball. Her answer to stay with her abusive fundamentalist husband was to move out of state in the dead of the night to as far away as their limited savings could get them. She returned with him years later. I communicate with her but I refuse to let him into my home. She knows our doors are always open to her. That is the best we can do now. He is the kind of guy that would see this book as validating the way he conducts his life.
I never asked my sister if I should warn him. I didn't need to. The code of Chivalry says so.
Were you taught not to stick up for your younger siblings?
Skidmore
(37,364 posts)We are the "girls" in the family. Believe me, the guys didn't ask for her permission. Bottom line is that adult siblings will make some crappy choices and stick with them regardless of what you try to do with them and for them in life.

(9,527 posts)Personally I find any threat of violence to be silly. If you feel you actually need to commit violence, why would you warn the other person?
Additionally I've always found it funny that people say threats of violence are Rambo like. In the first movie, he's only trying to avoid violence and actively doesn't hurt those attacking him at much as he could have. Granted the other movies moved in that direction, but the core of the character is that violence isn't a good thing.

(205 posts)If one needs a book of mythology to justify their BDSM lifestyle then so be it.
The problem I have is raising kids in such a lifestyle they will think that beating women is normal and all women like it when not all women or men enjoy that lifestyle.

(14,040 posts)that they are giving permission to be part of a BDSM lifestyle. If they are, and they need to wrap it up in mythology to make it okay for them, then fine. Otherwise, it's domestic abuse and not a BDSM lifestyle.

(205 posts)So if they freely did not choose then you are correct it becomes abuse.
