DAMN! Apple closes above $500/share.

Now I have to throw away tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment, software and education just to prove I'm a "Good Democrat." After all, we can't have anyone becoming successful around here!

I think I'll go to Wal Mart and buy one of those $300 PCs and try to learn Linux to right my moral compass.

Buying Apple products DOES NOT make me feel special in the slightest. Any more than buying a quality refrigerator makes me feel "special." However, YOU apparently feel special saying you hate Apple. Who has the problem here?

Not really. I am simply bemused at the lemmings who stand in line to hand over such large sums of money in an attempt to display their social fitness.

Part of me dislikes the way that PT Barnum is always proven right, but who am I to blow against the wind?

I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO THROW AWAY. I bought this shit, most of it back when Apple manufactured its stuff in Ireland and Malaysia. The MAC version of the Adobe Suite is bought and paid for. You fucking "anti-elitist" douche bags think I should go toss it all in the dumpster and head to the thrift shop and build my own piece of shit geek machine. You're just as stupid as those you rail against. I own this stuff...I can toss it all in the dumpster tomorrow...and Apple's stock will still be up another ten bucks by Friday.

Seriously. Deadly serious...WHAT THE FUCK do you want current owners of Apple products to do? We're in AT&T contracts, we have software and hardware investments. YOU can toss your POS computer in the dumpster any day you want, because you only paid $29 for it, and built it out of old toaster parts and Q-tips and bailing wire, and you're such a total geek that you programmed the Q-tips yourself. But what do REAL people do? What do actual owners of these products do just to pay homage to your total geekness and fake outrage (I say fake, because you hated Apple long before you found out Foxconn -- who also makes most of the cheap components in your cludge machine, plus your TV and off-brand smart phone -- manufactures iPads)?

As the sub-line says...at least you completely don't fucking get it.

Nothing to do with what anyone thinks. It has to do with the investment in hardware, software, education and service contracts. I KNOW what people like you think. I'm just wondering why you never threw away all of your computers when Microsoft was the world's #1 evil bad guy? Because you cared what people think, or maybe because you couldn't afford to.

I learned on an Apple 2e with Visicalc, but I thought the IBM PC was a better computer, especially when I got into Lotus 123. I pretty much stayed with that platform ever since the mid-80's.

I've seen presentations that were done on a Mac and they were very good - better than I could do with Windows products (but that isn't a very high standard).

My point is that you seem embarrassed over your use of Apple products and I think that is ridiculous. All consumer electronics are made in Asia, mostly China, so the choice is buy an Asian (Chinese) made product or do without. (I assume the build your own thing is " tongue in cheek&quot . Realistically, you can't do without, so why obsess over it?

Throw away thousands of dollars worth of products because people here have a hard-on for Apple? Not me. I buy US made products when I can find them. If they're not available, I don't beat myself up over buying Chinese if that is all there is.

Windows 95 FOREVER!

...oh, sorry... having a 1997 flashback...

It's 2012, isn't it? Where Apple products are at the top of kid's Christmas list, grandmas are picking iPads up at the most profitable chain of retail stores in the world, and you can buy an iTunes card at just about any Quickee Mart.

Apple Is Fail!

I like and "just works". It is the best move I ever made. (and I am a poor boy, that had to really save and think real hard about the purchase). And just what the Apple products have a great resale value.

My first computer was an Apple IIE. After that one died, I bought a PC. After that one died, I bought another PC, and then another PC. Now I have gone back to Apple. Our office replaced all the PCs with Mac Minis. When it was time to buy another computer at home, I bought a Mac Mini, which I have had for the past 3 years and I love it. I will be an Apple user forever.

kidding, of course. High quality, granted, but there are better solutions for the buck. The new Asus Transformer Prime running ICS will stomp the iPad2 hands down.

. . .say 1985, my workplace went Mac as the computer revolution kicked in full. An exec said the same thing as your title. It was just "a toy". Then he said, "all people do is type on them. We could just buy an IBM selectric." Another bigshot said "Have you seen the price of those typewriters?" The reply was something to the effect that they were still just toys.

Even though, for reasons too convoluted to discuss, they went to an Intel platform, they couldn't live without computers now.

the S&P 500 sells at 13x earnings with debt.

Apple has no debt thus is worth 15-20 times 2012 earnings of $43.
