I am almost 64 years old. I have lived in the south my entire life. I have a couple of college degrees. I was raised by a liberal democratic mother (my father died young).
I believe that laws like the voting rights act need to be permanent. We have not become more enlightened as a country. We are not more tolerant and accepting than we were when the law was passed.
I have never used the "n" word except to quote someone else. NEVER. I do not say it because I do not think it. I think Paula Deen said it because she meant it. "It was the 60s" is no excuse.
Climate change is real. We have done it and we need to do something about it NOW.
The Supreme Court is a huge political disappointment. They no longer appear to be anything but political. As a group they apparently need to retake American history.
Women have the right to determine what happens to their bodies. No one is in favor of abortion, we are not pro-abortion, we are pro-choice. I have never been raped, but any woman (or man) has a right to justice and to have whatever medical care her body and mind need.
I look at things pretty simply, I do not understand the Middle East at all.....I just know that killing is wrong.
Zimmerman did not need to get out of the car. The officer told him to stay out of it. He approached that boy, it was not self defense, it was murder.
