Updated again!!!: It's dead, Jim! (TX Senate)

Sic transit Gloria mundi.

The TX Democrats, led by Senator Wendy Davis and the other Democratic Party Senators (along with a huge gallery of supporters) have defeated the TX abortion bill by running out the clock in spite of GOP skullduggery, and a brazen attempt to change the time stamp of the vote.

Wendy Davis:

It's dead, Jim!

Maybe I ought to get one with McCoy railing about medieval medicine.

on edit: it looks like it passed. There may be challenges. Looks like I should have used a Zombie movie image instead of Star Trek.

On edit: Nope!! It goes down in flames. The clock ran out before the vote could be taken. Woo Hoo!

@AP: BREAKING: Republicans pass new restrictions expected to close almost every abortion clinic in Texas.

This is all but clear, or rather clear as mud

I am looking for more info by the way

Midnight came and went, but Dewhurst put up a vote and it "passed." There are senators on the floor huddling, discussing whether or not it has. Some Rethugs reportedly have said they're not sure whether they voted for the bill or on a procedural question. Arrests have begun.

I know they voted and it passed, but can it stand if the vote took place after midnight?

logically no, but the court of determination of that question is the TX Supreme Court which has 9 elected justices, all Republican, so you can guess how that is going to go.

I hope this is true, but no official word yet. So far there just seems to be a tweet of a rumor. But Senate TV's cameras are back so apparently SOMETHING is going to happen, hopefully before dawn.

Emerging from a Senate caucus meeting, state Sen. John Whitmire, D-Houston, said the legislators decided that the after midnight vote on SB 5 was invalid.
"There was not a valid vote," he said.
Now, the senators are coming back into the Senate chamber, where we expect a formal ruling on the final disposition of the bill.
