How is that even possible? I struggle with weight myself, but you have to try to put on THAT much weight. What do you think this is about? Is it a deliberate ploy to make him seem less fit and more vulnerable to someone like Trayvon?

(31,011 posts)He could have eaten out of boredom, guilt or some other reason. Maybe he is on steroids.
Who knows why he gained it all.

(89,250 posts)he seemed to always be heavy and it was probably just around the time he killed trayvon and before that where he got his weight down so maybe he just eating like he use to .
but i can also see it as trying to help in his trial to make him appear less strong. but then wouldn't it have been better to lose weight without working out so he is thinner and smaller but without muscle.

(5,739 posts)The stress of the case and the fact he probably doesn't get out much anymore because he would be recognized probably doesn't help either.
If I thought I was going to prison, I'd for sure eat all my favourite foods. When is the next time you might get anything besides prison gruel?

(1,489 posts)innocent or guilty, it would absolutely break many people, it's why we have the double jeopardy rules, because more than one trial for murder could kill many people, innocent or guilty

(53,032 posts)because he is house bound due to his infamy. The less active one is and the less body muscle, one's metabolism goes down and it's easier to put on weight.

(22,541 posts)for a while and had lost a bunch of weight when he resurfaced. I think it was so he wouldn't look too intimidating compared to rail-thin Trayvon. But he's gained it all back and then some. I think now they don't care. They can say he's been depressed or something.

(53,032 posts)Now he is over 300 lbs.

(22,541 posts)And did they weigh him that night? I remember his weight loss specifically afterwards because he was much thinner at his first court appearance. And he'd been raising money online, lots of it. Many of us wondered if he'd gotten a trainer and a nutritionist for that time so he could drop so much that quickly. And people were talking about how much taller Trayvon was than George, but that George was so much heavier. You remember there were those videos from the police station that night, right? He was in a red jacket. And he was big. And then poof, not so much.

(32,704 posts)then I can see how it's possible. I yo-yo dieted for 10 years--the losses and gains tended to be dramatic (although 120 is extreme!!).

(30,540 posts)would've gone on a starvation diet so that a puff of wind would blow me over. That way he would've looked like he was vulnerable and not up to physically taking on a 17yr old.

(11,366 posts)The human body doesn't need carbs unless it's extremely active (athlete, physical worker, etc.)
Prisoners are fed a bunch of grains and little protein and are confined. Much like our children in schools. Grains are cheap. Proteins and veggies are not.
BTW, corn and legumes are carbs. We need more green leafies in our diets.

(11,366 posts)He may not go out much and, let's face it, carbs are what's known as "comfort food."
I never got that. Food isn't "comfortable" for me. It's something I do to live, but, given the Food Network's popularity, I'm gonna say I'm in the minority here. People like to eat comfort foods, especially when they are going through rough times.
Regardless, he has excess carb fat. That's why his face is so puffy.

(19,814 posts)an anti-psychotic or anti-depressant can cause huge weight gains, and rapidly. Its a sad trade off, be bat shit crazy and have a better body that takes a smaller straight-jacket or saner, calmer, happier and gain up to 100 plus pounds. I know.
