MOSCOW, June 26 (RIA Novosti) - The whistleblowing organization WikiLeaks said on its Twitter feed on Wednesday that former CIA employee Edward Snowden, wanted by the United States for leaking state secrets, may be permanently stuck in Russia.
Cancelling Snowden's passport and bullying intermediary countries may keep Snowden permanently in Russia, WikiLeaks said on its Twitter feed, but did not specify the names of intermediary countries.
The United States has issued a warrant for Snowdens arrest on charges of leaking details of a US surveillance program and cancelled his US passport, which Washington says should prevent him from traveling internationally.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that Snowden, whose whereabouts had been the subject of international speculation for the past two days, was in the transit area of a Moscow airport.

Maybe Putin will pay Maduro in some way to take Snowden off his hands

MEXICO, June 26 (RIA Novosti) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said his country was ready to consider an issue of granting asylum to Edward Snowden, the former CIA employee wanted by the United States for leaking state secrets.
We would consider it, because the asylum is a measure of humanitarian protection and is a mechanism of the international humanitarian law, which is popular in Latin America and was always used to protect helpless, Maduro said.
No one has the right to spy after someone else and this youngster [Snowden], who told the world about it, deserves humanitarian protection, Maduro said adding that Snowden has not yet officially requested asylum in Venezuela.

(12,530 posts)It was pointed out to you several times, with indisputable proof offered, at you falsely attributed words to Glen Greenwald that he never said. You ignored the requests for you to edit.
Why would anyone willingly read what you're writing if you refuse to deal in truths?

(135,425 posts)July when it's up for renewal, should stipulate that if they harbor him, the tariffs go through the roof.
As I've said in other posts, there's nothing Ecuador makes that we can't get elsewhere. Any difficulties with trade will hurt them first and hardest, and they've got a shitload of bills to pay. They are in major debt. To China...!
I wouldn't be surprised if that's the road USA went down to encourage Ecuador to be less "enthused" about Mister Snowden.
Maybe he'll be like Tom Hanks in that oddball movie where the guy lost his country, and lives forever in the transit lounge! On the bright side, he'll get an immersion course in Russian...!
