The late, great Texan, Molly Ivins would be so proud!

The late, great Molly Ivins would be so proud! To quote her:

"So keep fightin' for freedom and justice, beloveds, but don't you forget to have fun doin' it. Lord, let your laughter ring forth. Be outrageous, ridicule the fraidy-cats, rejoice in all the oddities that freedom can produce. And when you get through kickin' ass and celebratin' the sheer joy of a good fight, be sure to tell those who come after how much fun it was." (Original source: Ivins, Molly. "The Fun's in the Fight." Mother Jones, May/June 1993)

and also:
"All anyone needs to enjoy the state legislature is a strong stomach and a complete insensitivity to the needs of the people. As long as you don’t think about what that peculiar body should be doing and what it actually is doing to the quality of life in Texas, then it’s all marvelous fun." (Texas Observer, Notes from a rookie, March 26, 1971.)

I am so sorry that she passed on. We still need her.

I still have an old newspaper article that she wrote years ago, stored away in a container in my basement. It was one of the funniest things I'd ever read: it was about how the bubbaettes were meaner than the bubbas.

This small bit of good news, however, might have warmed her heart. I would hope that she'd then ask why such things don't happen more often.

I'd do a cartoon of Senator Davis in the legg last night with Barbara Jordan, Ann Richards and Dear Molly standing behind her

"Girl, we got your back."
