#TIMESTAMPGATE: After A Crazy Night, This Photograph Helped Kill A Controversial Texas Abortion Bill

JOE WEISENTHAL

It was a crazy night in Texas politics that ended just before 4 AM Central Time, with a controversial abortion bill (that would have shut down the majority of Texas clinics) getting killed at the last minute.

Carolyn Jones at The Texas Observer has a great writeup of what went down, but it was basically this.

- snip -

That's when pro-choice activists in the chamber started shouting, and created enough chaos so that the state Senate couldn't vote by midnight, which was the end of the legislative session.. The final vote to pass the bill happened just after midnight at 12:03.

However, Republicans claimed that the vote got in before midnight.

According to Jones, Republicans had to admit that that they were a few minutes late on the bill, when Texas State Senator Juan Chuy Hinojosa tweeted this photo showing that the initial readout of the vote indicated it happened on June 26, but that a subsequent readout had been changed, showing June 25.

The initial time stamp on the Capitol website and on Senate documents placed the vote at 12:02 or 12:03 on June 26. But then someone mysteriously changed the time stamp to make it appear SB 5 passed before the deadline (see the post below for photographic evidence). The time stamp evidence, circulated on Twitter, eventually forced GOP leaders to admit defeat, at least for tonight.

I guess if lying for what one thinks is a "godly cause", it's okay.

The right wing is full of blasphemers and false prophet$. Ghod is Money and Social Position, after all.

Me, I think real "go straight to hell" blasphemy is when someone claims to be speaking for his or her diety when they're trying to pursued everyone that their world-view is the only right world-view and they are the ones that should be in charge because they're "sitting at the right hand" of that deity.

When do we get to rename the Repukes as the Lying, cheating, cheapskate, rip off party?

Tampering with official government records is a felony. There has to be an investigation on how this occurred and who fraudulently attempted to push this bill through by tampering with the official vote record. I'd also like to know why on earth they thought they could possibly get away with it. What, did they really imagine that no one would be paying attention? Barking idiots.

I also really want to know HOW it could be done. Surely changing the timestamp isn't so simple as deleting it and typing in a new timestamp, and surely it couldn't be done by just anyone on a mere whim. I'm not seeing how this could be done without someone deliberately hacking into the software to tamper with the record, and I'm not seeing that it could be just any someone or how this would not be been planned in advance.

Duncan? Pffft.

Super congratulations to all those who were able to attend in person!

"Someone" "mysteriously" changed the time. GOP leaders had to admit defeat at least for tonight.

Translation for accuracy:

a REPUKE illegally altered an official document in an ILLEGAL attempt to ILLEGALLY change the outcome of LEGISLATION AFFECTING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF LIVES but it's just a cute silly joke--don't get upset, repukes just missed their chance to ILLEGALLY ALTER THE OUTCOME OF A LEGAL PROCEDEEDING tonight.

Nothing about a Senator's heroic effort to save women's lives, in the face of REPUKE cheating, heckling, machination and AFTER the last minute ILLEGAL TAMPERING.

Oh, women's lives--those don't count. I forgot.

I guess the only time patriarchists are capable of seeing a woman's heroism is if she's blocked bullets with her body. And died. For children.

Despicable low lifes. In their next life, may they find a planet that has absolutely no liberals, all conservatives, and no resistance to to their plans. And see how quickly they burn it up in their self - made hell. Because they are doing it here and blaming us for their own shit.

(a brief moment of bitterness; so tragic we have to put up with them and carry their sorry asses into a better world)
