Paula Deen And Bodyguards.....

For the last two years I attend the Housewares Show in Chicago. Celebrity chefs make appearances. For the last two years Paul Deen has made an appearance - she has two big burly African American bodyguards that follow her everywhere and when she's speaking - they move out in the audience to watch.

I always wondered why she needs these bodyguards. None of the other celebrity chefs do this. Why Paul Deen?

This controversy just happened upon her recently - yet she's had these bodyguards for at least the last two years. So it's not related to this controversy. Was she threatened in the past?

1. I heard about this well over a year ago

I read about the lawsuit somewhere, but I didn't know if it was rumor or factual. Still, I haven't been able to watch her show since. So if I knew about it, many other people did as well.

5. Just speculation, but Paula has always had anxiety issues.

Apparently she was literally agoraphobic for a number of years and couldn't leave her house. She may have actually had loopy fans but I think she's what most Southerners would call "Capitol N Nervous". That's just a personal opinion, of course.

I still think she's anxious as hell. And these days has good reason to be. SHe' on the wrong side of, well, everything.

10. Some celebrities have either received threats or have had certain things happen which have caused...

...them to be unusually security conscious. I know a few non-celebrities who are dealing with issues of past abuse and they are so, for lack of a better word, "haunted" that they'd walk around with bodyguards if they could afford them. All women, but that's (sadly) more a reflection of how women are victimized in this country than anything else.

Some people go for their CCW over issues like this. You kinda never know what kind of baggage a person is dragging along (or forced to drag along) until you really, really get to know them.

I don't know much more than that, I never really heard of her before this trial or kerfuffle or whatever.
