From the Mathew Shepard Foundation RE: DOMA

A supporter of our work sent us this note this morning. "One of the first people I thought of this morning, after hearing about the Supreme Court's rejection of the Defense of Marriage Act, is the people who lost their lives along the way, simply by being who they were. And each of them, Matthew Shepard included, helped move this country a small step closer to justice for gays. It's not a role he sought, but his death had meaning and continues to have meaning, and I just wanted you to know I was thinking of him today."
