I think MSNBC is having a few issues with their ratings. They have had quite a few people to bail. I keep wondering who will be next.

I also think they made a mistake replacing Shultz with Hayes. He's floundering at his time slot. They just don't seem to be able to get their bearing at some time slots. I wonder if they bring him back, will the ratings at that time slot return. They were never great, but they were definitely better than they've been with Hayes.

So...SE Cupp may just be an example of rats fleeing a sinking ship.

It is difficult for me to believe that the other 3 on the show would not be thrilled to see her go. I believe they must certainly think it is she who is holding their ratings back. Frankly, I can't stand her. I saw that article that she had been chosen to be a part of the new Crossfire panel, and my first thought was how much did MSNBC have to bribe CNN to coax her away. The woman has zero depth and tries to make up for that with snark.

The article I read said CNN had "poached" her and I thought it would be too good to be true that she might be leaving MSNBC so I did not allow myself to hope. I figured maybe she could do both. If it is true she is leaving, what can I say but O Happy Day.

I do agree that MSNBC has made some extremely bad choices in their scheduling. I really like Chris Hayes but he was perfect in that 2 hour Saturday time zone. And Ed was great at 8.

But overall, NBC itself is suffering from extremely poor judgment. They have been listening to the demands of their sponsors who insist they want the viewers between whatever 25 and 40 because that is who their ads target. So NBC is shuffling in a lot of younger people and ignoring the preferences of their overall viewership. To give you an example, Harry's Law was NBC's #2 most viewed show following Smash (the first year Smash aired). Harry's Law was a great show, great cast, great scripts -- it had it all, especially originality. NBC canceled it for unexplained reasons. Really, who does not think Kathy Bates is an excellent actress and gives zero thought to her age while thinking it?

They may indeed be thrilled to see her go. I'm just not sure how many people will be thrilled to see the remaining 3 stay. They are clearly attempting to meet some kind of niche. I'm sure they were attempting to appeal to that same niche that you describe with that entire show, "The Cycle". But, to me, it never seemed to live up to their expectations.

I didn't watch it with SE. But, I won't be tempted to watch it without SE, either. I never saw the point. I thought they did it to mimic that show with the several people at the table on Fox. But, to my mind, it also doesn't seem to have a point.

I also watched Chris in his old time slot. For the life of me, I never remember he's on now. When I channel surf and find him...I'm just not motivated to watch for very long. But, that's not really a good time slot for me anyway. It's odd that I watched him at his own time, but I feel bored with him at the new time slot. It just doesn't make sense.

As for the poor judgement, I agree. I never guessed that it might actually be sponsors weighing in. But, I should have. They have to get paid, after all.
