Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) reacted to two Supreme Court rulings on Wednesday by suggesting that same sex marriage is usually tried at the end of a great civilization.
In a Capitol Hill press conference, Gohmert referred to the Supreme Court justices who voted in favor of striking down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as the five new holy quintets.
For them I dont know what kind of cloistered walls this court has been behind, he opined. They were not aware that the most wise man in history, Solomon, said theres nothing new under the sun. And this isnt new, and its been tried over and over. And its usually tried at the end of a great civilization.
I would remind you of the document that allowed the United States to claim its independence and be free as recognized by England, the Treaty of Paris (1783), the Texas Republican continued. And if you look at that document, you will see big, bold letters at the top. Because put yourself in the place of the Americans. What would you make Britain swear under that they would be so afraid to go back on their word?
Well, what our founders came up with were these words: In the Name of the most Holy & undivided Trinity. Thats why it started that way, and they did not believe that even the adversaries in war would the nerve to go against that.
Gohmert concluded: What we now have today is a holy quintet who goes against the laws of nature and natures God. And thats very unfortunate.

(16,847 posts)We've gone a long way toward making people equal under the law. We have more to do, but we're gaining ground. Giving people equal opportunity economically is our next big challenge, and that goes hand in hand with reforming corrupt government and making it work for the people, not the other way around. We have our goals in mind, now it's a matter of making them reality.

He asked what tactic our highly skilled enlightenment masonic negotiators might have used to keep the English crown true to the treaty.
(1) As both of the English Representatives were long time friends of Ben Franklin, They seem likely to have suggested the phrase "In the Name of the most Holy & undivided Trinity.", which has a decidedly Anglican slant.
(2) No author is listed for the set of documents that are the 1783 Treaty of Paris between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Great Britain. There were 6 Representatives (2 British, 4 American), any one of them may have penned those words.
Gohmert is neck deep in the bullshit pile for taking a single phrase out of a single document to commit the entire history of the United States and It's Government to adherence to his personal beliefs. And if the criteria of his personal beliefs is not met, then the entirety of civilizations will collapse?
2 other things...why is his bundle of documents tied with string?...to look more scroll like?
...Which planet's history has he been studying?...Humanity's history has had open homosexuality for most of it existence. The exception has largely been the historical christian european civilizations (from the people who brought you the dark ages), ancient Judaism, and modern Islam.

Roe vs Wade will not end civilization.
Corrupt governments and money hungry corporations will be the downfall of civilization.
Louie is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
The U.S. is not and was never intended to be a Theocracy !!!
Our corrupt politicians should be focusing on the following;
unemployment
hunger
homelessness
Wall Street thievery
corruption in all branches of government
price fixing of commodities
the rising cost of education
the unbridled power of the MIC brass
our watch dog organizations laxed attitude at corruption
the escalating police brutality in this country
the prison industry; 2.3 million U.S. citizens incarcerated
restrictions on peaceful protesters
voting rights restrictions
insider trading by our corrupt politicians and their staff members
the monopoly of our media
labeling U.S. citizens as terrorists for dissenting
empire building under the guise of spreading democracy
allowing torture to be part of the U.S. legacy; failure to prosecute the Bush administration by the Obama administration. The Obama administration carries on the legacy; force feeding prisoners in Guantanamo.
Corporations are NOT people. I do not care if the 'Supreme Court' has declared they are.
Money should not be equated with the amount of free speech one is entitled to; money in our political arena.
U.S. politicians are not interested in fixing what truly ails this country.
They are responsible for what ails this country.
Our government is run by corporations that purchase the politicians they want to represent them and their interests.
