Seized pit bulls returned to Eagles RB Bryce Brown
A pit bull belonging to Eagles running back Bryce Brown -- along with the dog's seven puppies -- are being returned to Brown after they were seized in May from an alleged illegal dog-breeding operation in Fall Creek, Wis., that was also suspected of fighting the dogs.
Joseph Sudbrink, who runs Northland Pits, was arrested Friday on preliminary charges of mistreating animals and operating as a dog breeder without a license, the district attorney's office told the Leader-Telegram. Brown doesn't have ties to the alleged operation.
More from the Telegram: "In a petition he filed May 28 seeking the return of the dogs, Sudbrink said he thinks the animals were removed because Bekah Weitz, the humane officer for the Eau Claire County Humane Association, believed they were fighting dogs."
Brown purchased the pit bull, Ellis, in 2010 and sent her to Northland Pits for stud services in February, according to the Leader-Telegram. After a week, she was returned to Brown in Wichita, Kan. Ellis returned to Northland Pits shortly before the birth of her puppies, where Sudbrick offered to whelp and wean them for Brown. Ellis and the puppies were seized along with 19 other dogs when a search warrant was executed on May 21.
