Are you a patriot or a vampire? This is the tagline for the new movie Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. While it comes from a book by the author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the flap over the Clint Eastwood commercial for Chrysler shows everything is game for political interpretation.
A young conservative relative in his twenties (whom I dearly love, but lament he grew up with Fox News always on the TV) commented on Facebook that the vampires are the takers and liberals sucking the nation dry, and the patriots (of course) are conservatives and the Tea Party. (Heavy sigh.) I expect well hear more of this.

(20,776 posts)I guess the writers in Hollywood are finally getting creative.. I could almost imagine this being from a
Japanese manga. Then again, Fox was always great at re writing history... It wouldn't surprise me if a few Republicans said this movie was based on fact.

(2,097 posts)The vampires are wealthy white Southerners, and are responsible for slavery -- in other words, they're the forerunners of the GOP base.
Plus, in that tag line, Patriot=Unionist and, therefore, Vampire=Confederate. Works for me.
