Am surprised that N. Korea has been so quiet throughout this episode. It is so needy for attention and so expert at playing the passive-aggressive game, besides (as a DUer noted) it is so close to Hong Kong, that it would seem a perfect fit.
But whatever info SNOWDEN has left, it's got a diminishing value. Whether some believe our government is nefarious or incompetent, any self-respecting "villain" would at least try to have some kind of contingency plans that might short circuit damage.

My old ship had previously served in Korea. So it's my idea of a neighborhood. Besides that it was a DUer from Australia who posted "how close" and what a perfect fit N. Korea was vis a vis Hong Kong.
And Hong Kong to Moscow: 4438.15 mi. Ain't Google and President GORE's internet grand?!1
Gosh, my old rust bucket (benjo maru = "shit ship" , we really got around: time flies when we had some fun::

(70,719 posts)If SNOWDEN went there, it would be a loose-cannon COUP for N. Korea, devastating diplomacy (blackmail), but with rapidly diminishing value. It might DEVASTATE his admirers, but who can tell about that. And him, since his elite status still would not give him the standard of living to which hes become accustomed, and it would all go downhill as his information cache approaches worthlessness. The novelty would soon wear off, thereby threatening his internet connection privileges and the waiting-for-Dennis-RODMAN-visits.
