Accused Cleveland kidnapper ruled capable of standing trial

http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/03/justice/ohio-castro-hearing/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

(CNN) -- Ariel Castro, the Ohio man accused of holding three women captive for about a decade, is competent to stand trial, a judge said at a hearing Wednesday.

Castro, clad in an orange prison suit, sat in the court during the hearing, his head lowered and eyes sometimes closed. He answered questions directly, telling the judge he understood the proceedings.

The suspect was evaluated by two psychiatrists. The competency report is sealed, so it won't be publicly available.

In another issue, Castro wants his children to be able to visit him in jail, but the judge said he won't let the minor children visit because it would be inappropriate.

He'll make a deal real soon. Either way he will never see the light of day again.

If he has any sense at all, he'll plead out and take life in prison with no parole. I don't know if the prosecution is still considering the death penalty, but success with that seems tenuous at best. They should just save everyone the bother and accept a plea and lock this monster up.
