GZ defenders are saying that Zimmerman turning down the Citizens On Patrol offer proves he was not a wannabe cop. I wonder if they are purposely omitting the fact that C.O.P. "officers" are not allowed to carry weapons or get into physical confrontations? From C.O.P. guidelines:
C.O.P.s do not take enforcement action, they only observe and report. Citizen Patrol Volunteers are not authorized to carry weapons and are encouraged to avoid physical contact. C.O.P.s greatest weapon is their established bond with local law enforcement and their ability to communicate directly with them by radio or cellular phones using special dedicated phone numbers.

Here's why George Zimmerman declined the offer to join Citizens On Patrol (and I hope to God that the prosecution has someone on staff who is alert enough to bring this up): GZ was not willing to be downgraded to the role of an overzealous fake cop armed with only a cellphone and flashlight. GZ wanted to patrol/stalk the community with a loaded "firearm" so that he could chase suspicious "suspects," none of which was allowed in the C.O.P. program.

BUT, it seems that UNLESS there's evidence, written or even recorded, this would only be called "speculation" and probably not admissible as evidence.
Did he in fact say this or decline because of this?
