all the problems too- air, water, energy wasted.

Kills me how we effect ALL the rest of the animals:
1. we breed so many of the "pets" that we have to kill billions of them in shelters
2. we think we can't live without eating them so we let this "meat" industry become the nastiest earth-raping shame ever, or
3. if they've stayed as far as they can from us (aka "wild) we WILL find ways to trash or erase their habitat and drive them to extinction.

I have to live 40 more years and I know for definitely rhinos and most elephants and lots of other big land animals will be wiped out in my lifetime. Where will they get their precious rhino horn from when they're all gone? I'd bet my life someone is stockpiling rhino horns.

In South Africa alone in 2012 450 rhinos were poached for their horns. 30,000 elephants were killed in 2012 for the ivory. The good news is that Obama on his trip to Africa launched a wildlife trafficking initiative backed with money to help African nations fight this horrific activity. World Wildlife Fund says it will help to put illegal wildlife trafficking under the same laws as human trafficking.

Remember that just as wealthy Asians do not need the billion dollar illegal religious and craft products carved from ivory, we also do not need the gold and diamonds that are sold to us by huge corporations all over the world. Bling comes to us tainted with the blood of indigenous miners and the environmental destruction of our beautiful planet.
