"Red Town" mind-numbing rural stumblefuckery, Pahrump Fourth of July edition
We have an out-of-control fire in progress on the outskirts of town (actual photo of the fire above, from a local Facebook page), but fireworks WERE NOT outlawed. There are forced evacuations in progress less than 20 miles away.
I'm not as concerned about the closely-monitored town display. It's the drunks and meth heads who stocked up at any one of the several airline hanger-sized legal fireworks places in town. The town passed a moratorium on open burning BEFORE the current fire hit. EVERYTHING should have been canceled tonight...town fireworks and especially Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel's back yard "display."

Seriously, I hope all is okay.
...the stories (and photos) of the fire were rampant, interspersed with posts from the local goobers asking "Are we gonna have fireworks? Are we gonna have fireworks?"
I do not believe there is a local chapter of MENSA in Pahrump.
