China’s rich developing taste for human breast milk

Human breast milk is the latest delicacy amongst China’s wealthy, with a growing number of companies offering wet nurses for adults.

Xinxinyu, a domestic staff agency in Shenzhen, near Hong Kong, allows adult clients to drink directly through breastfeeding or via a breast pump ‘if they feel embarrassed’.

Wet nurses for adults are paid four times the Chinese average at around 16,000 yuan (£1,700) a month and those who are ‘healthy and good looking’ could earn even more, company owner Lin Jun told the Southern Metropolis Daily.

Beliefs are held in some part of the country that human breast milk is the easiest and most digestible form of nutrition for those who are ill.

However, this bizarre new trend has sparked outrage and disgust amongst web users with many condemning the practice as unethical.

This was in the USA, I saw it as a fetish. Now I wish I had asked more about it, but at the time all I wanted to do was be polite. One woman had five children, but I figured it was just because she was Mormon, now I wonder if hubby's desire for breast milk played into it.

In general, Chinese women are not well endowed, maybe the wealthy are importing foreign lactaters. The article doesn't say but I would guess the women are using exogenous prolactin and oxytocin to induce lactation.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a premium for foreign lactaters.

Personally, the thought of drinking any sort of animals milk disgusts me. I have a hard time even watching someone else drink it without gagging. Just the smell of it... While on the flip side, the milk of humans is (at least) from our species. Though you wouldnt catch me standing in line to drink that stuff either. All milk produced by animals is intended for nursing, afaik. Its strange, the things that are socially acceptable vs the things that aren't.

Ill spare you my thoughts on the meat issue. My POV is not a very popular one. Suffice it to say that I would not eat a human. But I'd also not eat a cow.

I can see a higher price to be extracted from "Fleur de Pomeranian" than "Mais de St. Bernard" since it stands to reason that the raw materials are scarcer.

My cousin, killjoy that she is, once forbade me from selling my "Bag O' Rocks" at her flea market stall. And to think I could have made us BOTH millionaires!
