but I think here at DU it is mostly partisanship that prompts the anti-civil Liberties crowd. Barack is " their candidate"; he's a Democrat, therefore he is sacrosanct. And , apparently, any criticism of gov't policy is preemptively taken as an attack on the President.

or , maybe we are ALL just hacks....

I don't really see many options for fixing things.

violent protest/ uprisings are a horrifying option with no real chance of working.

peaceful protest kinda requires a Free Press to be successful.

In the last 7 or 8 months, Ive lost faith in the Bicameral system. So, working in the System doesn't seem like an option Seems to me like the leadership of both parties only truly represent the 1%. Its just that one has gay rights and women's rights and the other doesn't. The money still ends up in the hands of the Few...

We have advanced so far technologically.

as a Civilization, we are still stuck in the dark Ages.

except, now it is the Merchants, not the Warriors , that Rule...

any inferences were unintentional. This is just the way the World looks to me, these days.

I just believe that, as a Species, we could build a much better world. But we are held back by a handful of people. We might even extinguish ourselves because of the Few, who will not release their toxic hold on Mankind.

But I am just another guy stuck on the Hamster Wheel.

I didn't mean to imply anything else...

but I would argue that the merchants have run things for a long while.

I do believe that most uprisings have some element of Elite organization and , therefore, tacit approval from Some faction of the Elite. that is why I do not necessarily feel any elation when I see actions in Egypt ; I cannot help but wonder if it has been co-opted by some third party.

I do, however, fantasize that tomorrow we will all wake up and say: " enough ".

but then, I wake up, and see that nothing has changed....

"libertarian paul-bots"

"obama haters"

and much, much more.
