Ya love the fetus sooo much? Fine. So give us medical care for Mother and child, paid leave (a year), a state stipend, affordable quality childcare, expanded WIC benefits, laws protecting pregnant workers, and mandatory Daddy DNA tests for all paternity disputes. Swedish-style.

3. Oh please. Our side bears no small blame for this....

This whole thing, along with the birth control debacle is the result of what is now years of "our side" the Dems trying to play nice, and placate religious fanatics and playing the whole "Well, yes we all agree abortion is icky, etc." and acting as though the other side is negotiating in good faith and if we just reach out our hand for compromise we can all make it better together.

Bull. Any fool with half a brain knew that would never happen and that this was going to be the result of the endless stream of compromise and capitulation. Which makes most of (not all, but enough to do this damage) our elected Dems dummber than a fool with half a brain.
