Obsessing lustfully over a court case is a CNN thing, and I do not watch CNN.

(327 posts)....for broadcast television. Big media companies let their product suffer due to the loss of viewers to the activities of Summer. It only gets worse. By August entire operations are virtually crippled by a combination of vacations, interns, and the ensuing stupidity that is already rife in American broadcast television. Don't fight the problem. Just watch Democracy Now and RT online. Amy never sleeps and it's hardly ever really Summer in Russia.
Carry on.

(10,429 posts)Coup in Egypt; ongoing war in Syria; NSA/Snowden scandal; the return of Weiner and Spitzer; the ongoing War on Women... All much more important than the Zimmerman trial.

(772 posts)Big Ed, Joy Reid, Lawrence, and Rachel are about the only decent hosts left.
Chris has ruined Big Ed's old time slot.
Once all the deliberate, post-election attempts to undermine this presidency started, it has become unwatchable.

(19,841 posts)I think Chris Hayes is doing a great job and his show gets better and better. He takes on the environmental issues. He's covered the NSA scandal very well. I think Hayes should replace Matthews.
I agree another "Ed" would be good, but not to replace Chris Hayes. (Big Ed can't do it any more--he's overwhelmed). But a similar guy would be good for MSNBC--viewers like that "angry man style."
I like Rachel and the Rev both. I think Chris Hayes is a keeper also and Matthews should retire. Get another plain-speaking "Ed" for Chris Matthews' early slot. That's when my MIL likes to watch and she was a big Ed fan.
O'Donnell I can take or leave. Big Ed and Melissa HP were also disappointing on Snowden, very much the government party line. Never linked Snowden to previous whistleblowers. Played down the offensive data-mining. They sounded like DiFi--just "catch Snowden" (shut him up) and the world will be right again." Short-sighted.

(2,424 posts)Don't even DVR it anymore.
They get their talking points from the other major networks. Their White House correspondent is a gatekeeper.
They have obviously sworn fealty.
At it's height, for me, the best moments were Rachel covering Herman Cain (art project for the laughs and chuckles), Ed covering Wisconsin (Walker recall), and Rachel covering Occupy (media access to deliver a message).
It has been all down hill since.

(2,424 posts)President Obama was my pony. There is no other pony.
Now I can't stand to listen to folks rave about him.
Sickening.
I turn it off.

(6,476 posts)Interesting that Newsroom replays have begun on HBO and MSNBC is Atlantis World Network trying to save its ratings. Its almost impossible to find a channel not covering this crap. Its instructive as Sloan keeps trying to get the Network to follow the possible financial collapse due to Sequester while America is distracted by Casey Anthony soap opera. I can't believe MSNBC viewers put up with this-I turn any channel that mentions the case and I'm a litigating attorney

(51,076 posts)I like watching how stuff is made or why something is as it is way better than some jackass bloviating about something they know very little about
At least we're learning something. You won't learn anything watching MSNBC.

Enjoy watching or just having on in the background past games.
Also my DVD 'collection' is offering up some good films.

(8,582 posts)I try Lawrence O, and the same thing. If I want to watch court proceedings I'll watch a court channel. They used to have Court TV but they changed that to TruTV. Politics Nation? How about Court Nation.
