If Chinese newspapers = Chinese government

Some here have said that Snowden talking to Chinese newspapers is equivalent to talking to the Chinese govt.

If this is the case (and I think it is), isn't it just a bit ironic that the very same people are taking the word of a Chinese state-run newspaper about what Snowden did or did not say?

Do they not see that the Chinese govt. would take tremendous pleasure in tweaking the nose of the US govt. in any way they could INCLUDING of course saying that they got IP addresses, etc. etc.

It was owned by Rupert Murdoch at one time not long ago. The current owner or publisher is a mega-wealthy industrialist.

We have no way of knowing the veracity of that paper.
