What are some good political oriented forums to spar with conservatives/republicans

without the risk of being banned for simply having difference in opinion? I often time stumble across the most ridiculous posts that originate from freerepublic, but I know posting rebuttals to some of the shit they say will simply result in a ban (been there, done that)

I remember way back when those idiots at protest warrior had an open forum that attracted a wide range of posters, and they didn't restrict it to only like minded people. It had more of an immature environment, but there were occasional debates/discussions that worked well. I would like to find something like that, but without the bad parts.

libertarian whackadoodles like Rand and Ron Paul.

It never fails--bash those rightwing fuckers in a thread, and a few trolls show up to complain and attack the people criticizing the Paul family.

There are people here who NEVER criticize Republicans and NEVER have a single word of support for anything Obama has ever done. They are trolls.

they nominate unelectable senate and presidential candidates. I suppose the flip side of that is possible too, but the idea that anyone here uses their posts to try to make Democrats unelectable is ridiculous.

Most want the party to move to the left because we think it will make Democrats more electable, not less. We all post our opinions, whether you like them of not, but there is really no grand strategy beyond that.

It's more than obvious.

more trolls than a standard message board. By trolls, I mean people who just say crazy shit to rile people up. Obviously you get that on forums like DU, but it's easier to to determine if a person truly feels the way they come off as, or if they are just saying things to poke people with a stick. I'll check put politico to see if it's different than the typical comment section though (I'm not exactly sure what politico is yet)

has a politics section.

You're not allowed to talk about climate change, though, because the arguments get too heated....lol.

Sciforums.com also has a politics forum, which you may find a little more formal and civilized.

Just noticed you said "immature environment." In that case, Harmony Central's politics forum. Plenty of immaturity at HC. Check out the Open Jam section, as well, for extra immaturity. I wouldn't call it a Liberal safe website, though, and I personally prefer DU for laughs.

I'll have to check that out. I mean immature environment as a negative aspect of the forum I mentioned above. I remember things would often times spiral into silliness. But there were the occasional discussion that didn't seem to turn and people acted like adults to an extent.

I'm going to check out sciforums.com later when I get chance. Thanks.

I used to be a member of a now defunct social networking type site that had a lot of right-wingers on it. Some of them were conservative, but they were not like hard line batshit insane kind, and they were fun to debate with. I even have a couple of them on facebook, but politics is rarely discussed there. But then there were the far right-wingers who just spammed their BS opinions and would result to petty insults or ignore anyone who tried to debate. They didn't even get alone with the more moderate conservative either... I can't help but wonder what those people are like in person.

For example, Ars Technica is primarily focused on tech & geeky stuff, but of course, the members on the forums do discuss politics, so they've got a forum called the Soap Box for that.

And because the members have something in common - being tech geeks, there's a little bit of incentive to keep things civil, even though there's a mix of liberals and conservatives there.

The voting system tends to be a touch left leaning but they have absolutely no shortage of in depth, time sucking, and life wasting debates between two sides that don't give two shits about what the other person says.

You'll have no problem trolling for conservatives there.
