Not knowing that Trayvon was a minor is not an acceptable excuse.

They were aware he was 17.

The defense's excuse is that the state was obviously preparing this charge for some time, and should have informed the court and the defense about this so that everyone could prepare.

anticipate changes in the charges leveled against their client. This incident occurred over 16 months ago. Wouldn't it make sense from the start to put together some type of outline for all possible charges and a quick list of cases applicable to each charge. You don't have to do a complete work up but some type of outline would go a long ways to reacting to what can be a fluid situation once you get to court.

Was that, for example, he didn't prepare for vehicular manslaughter because that would be absurd, and that likewise he didn't prepare for child abuse because that is likewise absurd.

MEANWHILE, the state had obviously been preparing such for some time and could have just informed everyone about it.

I have no opinion on this one way or the other as it would seem to revolve around some arcane things.

... my employer blocks all media streams and my i-data plan is just about used up for the month, so I'd like to know what time closing arguments are going to start, if anyone knows that.
