She bought a 62 Austin-Healey sprit for $225 before diapers were changed.

July 11, 2013 (PORTLAND, Ore.) (WLS) -- It was a lovely gift, a daughter who bought her father a car. Only it was an accident -- and that daughter is a 1-year-old.

"I didn't realize anything took place until I got an email from eBay saying congratulations," said dad Paul Stoute.

Little Sorella, who can't even say the word "car," bought one. The 1962 Austin Healey Sprite, which she unwittingly bid on, through an eBay app, while playing with her dad's phone.

"Initial thoughts were panic. We're like, 'How do we get out of this?'" Stoute said.

The Stoutes had that chance, too, but decided the old Austin-Healey might not be so bad-price tag - $225. They're keeping it for little Sorella's 16th birthday.

My step father wanted one of those (bug-eyed version) so badly back in 1959 that he could taste it. Later in life he would own a number of exotics and even a good garage full of American muscle cars too, but I remember how he fawned over that little car.

But since the father seems to be raising money to restore the car on the internet, I can't help but suspect him of making this whole thing up. Buy the car himself, make up the story about the 1 year old ordering it, get it publicized, raise thousands in cash.

No one could ever prove it was you who ordered it, not the girl.

My granddaughter, barely three, takes her mom's phone, and her little fingers FLY over the keyboard. She knows how to unlock it, download games, play games. She runs the bill for data sky high every month.
