NSA Spying on Latin American Countries Included Targeting of Trade Secrets

The United States has been accused of spying on numerous countries in Latin America in an effort to collect intelligence on trade secrets and military capabilities.

Using information provided by former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden, a Brazilian newspaper, O Globo, published a story that said the U.S. spy agency has gathered data on telephone calls and emails from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela and others.

The account indicated that the NSA had collected military and security data on countries including Venezuela, while also carrying out surveillance operations to acquire trade secrets from within the oil industry in Venezuela and the energy sector in Mexico.

O Globo also published a story over the weekend saying Brazil was a major target of the NSA’s global spying on telecommunications, which involved the cooperation of American and Brazilian companies (which were not named).

It was additionally reported that the CIA and NSA jointly operated monitoring stations to gain foreign satellite data in 65 countries, including five in Latin America.

but it sounds likely that with Private Contractors involved that targeting Wall Street and Multinational Companies interests would be a lucrative part of the NSA Spying.

Several of my posts digging more into the site.

he's been called a 'human encyclopedia' by vice magazine. he's written a number of books on everything from olympic history to the worst dictators in the world. david wallechinsky is a globetrotting historian & he's also the editor-in-chief of allgov.com - and that's why he's here on the latest interview episode from media monarchy.

our conversation touches on some of the important news of the day: bankster bailouts & where the money is really going, the afghanisurge & the phony war on drugs, biometrics & the panopticon + the rival gangs known as the democrats & the republicans ... how can we shine a brighter light on 'everything our government really does'? listen closely & you'll learn why we say: don't hate the media, become the media.

some here jump on sites as "unapproved" and yet the criteria for "unapproved" is never really stated clearly even when some of us have asked for a list of "approved and unapproved."

I would like to suggest that you don't fully understand the true impact of this. American companies have a leg up on ALL industrial activity. Meaning American companies know all the secrets of their competitors: banking, technology, pharmaceutical and otherwise and compete unevenly with their so called trading "partners" where it matters. That's why they are spying on "friendly" countries.

If you don't believe this affects the British economy, and that of Europe at large, I would respectfully ask that you rethink your position.

piss on competitors and wheel and deal and manipulate. That's what it's about and not catching Terrorists.

Carlyle Group, Cerebus, Oil and Mining Interests, Banking and Globilization..and getting together on Austerity Programs to enable world wide "wage parity." Meaning you and I work for less as they make more.

Now we find out that Govt. was Paying ATT and Others to collect our information!

Boondoggles everywhere.

Anyone who believes NSA is spying on terrorists to keep us safe is a gullible idiot. If they spy on a terrorist, its by accident.
