Yesterday in the state of Washington, my two best female friends got married.

My wife and I were honored to stand up for them. The ceremony was small, just the four of us plus the judge who was very sweet. The judge said she loved doing these (same sex) weddings and you could tell. I think there were tears in everyone’s eyes as the two read their personal vows to each other. The date was the 31 anniversary of their first wedding (not recognized by the state of course). They consider this event their third wedding as they also include their ceremony when they entered into a domestic partnership. Now that's got to be one strong bond sealed by three weddings.

One of them told me that they never thought this day would come, only daring to have some hope in the last few years.

After the ceremony we went to a nice restaurant to enjoy dinner and Champagne. I was happily surprised when the Champagne was complemented by the house, not because it was free, but because the house was glad to honor this marriage.

I wish them the best as they certainly deserve it.

for the last 31 years. They didnt invite their families because they didnt want to pressure them into being there. They didnt want them to be uncomfortable. We've come a long way but still have a long way to go.

hell hasn't frozen over, humans aren't marrying ducks, the end of days aren't upon us and non-same sex marriage hasn't been suddenly broken. It's almost like two consenting adults in a loving relationship getting married isn't quite as apocalyptic as some contended.

May your friends have many more years of happiness.

couple for 31 years as are millions of others, and God hasnt struck with lightening. What happened here was the state finally recognized their marriage and Federal Government. It meant a lot to them but wont change their relationship.
