LFR ramble inspired by the show Gunsmoke.

I was watching an episode of "Gunsmoke" . Kitty was telling this one woman that women cannot understand War or the terror. Oh, how times have changed.

We now have women vets. We now have women in combat situations. I do believe that soon we will see women have to, by law, sign up for the draft just like men.

Understanding War is not due to sex or can such a thing be used as an excuse by those that wish to use it to keep women “in their place”. Women now see the same hell.

In the same manner, Men have proven themselves too. With women now leaving for long deployments, it is up to the men to take care of the family. They have broken those old stereotypes to show that they too can be nurturing and take care of the everyday family life. They have also shown that they too, as women have done many times, understand the fear and sorrow.

The fear and sorrow I talk of is of that “Letter”. They have had to live that fear of the knock on the door. Some have even had to live through that knock.

The gender roles of the past have come crashing down around us. Yet, there are those that just cannot let go of the old ways. Scarier still is that some of the “Old Way Guards” are women.

It is these women that help make many things not happen. They actually help keep women down. They help to promote the stereotypes. They also hurt more things than just women’s rights. They also hurt men. As they force outdated thinking on women. they open up outdated thinking on men. They try and say that men cannot do “women’s work”. Men are not allowed to grow due to this thinking.

And if you look at those of the “Old Way Guard”, they are also the same ones that are fighting against LGBT Rights as well as a woman’s right to choose.

I am glad to say that these “Old Way Guards” are being quieted by we who see how damaging to humanity they are. But they are still out there, still spewing their outdated, damaging ideology. No matter how many times they are shown such thinking is wrong, they keep at it.

We have come a long way for equality, but we must keep fighting. As long as the other side, those “Old Way Guards”, are still at it, we must be too.

I would hate to be her. I just hope the voters wake up to what an ignorant little twit they put into office and chuck her out on her perky little arse.
