San Diego mayor apologizes amid harassment claims
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- San Diego Mayor Bob Filner on Thursday apologized for his behavior and said he needs help, amid allegations that he sexually harassed women.
Filner said he has failed to respect women who work for him and intimidated them at times. He added his behavior is inappropriate and wrong.
"If my behavior doesn't change, I cannot succeed in leading our city," Filner said in a statement. His comments came a day after a prominent former supporter called for him to resign.
"You have every right to be disappointed in me. I only ask that you give me an opportunity to prove I am capable of change, so that the vision I have for our city's future can be realized," he said

Sent the story early, but...
Now let's see Kevarick, local GOP head, goes for the recall election.
And no, these were not Republicans... The people talking to press in the morning are the who's who of the democratic big wigs locally.

(34,825 posts)filner has already effected many positive changes for my city in his short tenure. there's a process for dealing with these incidents in the workplace, and it doesn't appear, at this stage, that filner crossed any lines that would merit his resignation.
