News blackout re: latest Gulf oil spill at Energy Resources Technology platform

This is an article from the last update I could find. Note it's dated the eve. of July 9. There are more articles from around the same date/time but I can't find any article more recent or with a more recent update on the web. To me, this seems a news blackout.

Does anyone have a more recent article, i.e. as of today or last night?

Natural gas leaking from well off Louisiana coast

By Devin Kelly
July 9, 2013, 6:12 p.m.
Workers were attempting to plug a natural gas leak on a well at a platform about 75 miles off the Louisiana coast on Tuesday.

No explosion or blowout was reported. Workers were trying to temporarily plug the well Monday night when they lost control of it, the Associated Press reported. The platform was evacuated safely, the Coast Guard said, and two other wells were shut off.

A “rainbow sheen” of natural gas, more than four miles wide and three-quarters of a mile long, was floating on the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, authorities reported after a fly-over assessment Tuesday. How much had spilled was unclear.

2. I recall reading that the crude oil leaked was only a few barrels

which goes a long way to form a sheen along withe gas - hence its size.

No mention was made of how much gas was escaping / escaped.

PORT FOURCHON, La. — State officials on Thursday began sealing a gas well that started leaking several days ago in the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast.

The process, which began after federal officials gave their approval, involves pumping drilling fluid into the well, said Eileen Angelico, spokeswoman for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. Angelico did know how long it would take.

The well is at a production platform owned by a subsidiary of Houston-based Talos Energy, about 75 miles southwest of Port Fourchon.

Company officials said it had been out of production for years and was being permanently plugged when it began leaking small amounts of gas and an oil-water mixture called condensate.

The Coast Guard said a small sheen was visible on the Gulf surface, but company officials expect it to evaporate.

I don't trust a thing these industry people say.

And "small sheen"? The thing is 4 mi. long and 3/4 mi wide---I don't call that small.

5. I tried to find out more about this late yesterday and nothing new was in the search engines...

I had the same feeling as you that there was a news black out....

I still hope for something from activists who might be able to check it out further. But then...they might be denied access given the restricted climate for news we live in these days after BP and Wall Street got off so lightly.

"How much had spilled was unclear."

Natural gas doesn't spill, it leaks. Its far lighter than water so it enters the air. If there is so much as a light breeze, let us say 2 or 3 miles per hour, the gas will disperse rapidly. Its bad for the atmosphere, it probably pollutes some water as the bubbles rise, its a nasty green-house gas, but it will not be persistent, like an oil spill would be.
