He talks about a neighbor walking up with a flashlight just after he shot Martin. Zimmerman asked if he was with the police, the guy said he was not, but that he was calling the police. Zimmerman said "don't call the police, help me restrain this guy."
He didn't say "Help me! This guy is trying to kill me!". He didn't say "Get this guy off of me." He said "Help me restrain this guy."
He was playing cop, and he was trying to keep this particular "punk" from getting away.

(61,700 posts)I asked that question here too but your OP is much better. I didn't have the embedded video.
Zimmerman's words and actions indicate no fear for his life.

(10,888 posts)that he was yelling "Help me, help me!" but it seemed the only reason he wanted help was to secure his "suspect". He wasn't talking about any desperation that made him fearful he would die. Just restraining Martin.

(61,700 posts)I recall that it wasn't until Zimmerman was arrested - 44 days after he shot Martin - that we began to hear about Z being attacked. All that stuff came much later when Z's supporters came up with a defense strategy.

(14,549 posts)The jury has it. It says so much with no words at all.
Those searching eyes seem to ask "why?"

(3,681 posts)This is just a boy, a baby. He does not look at all like some young tough. He does not look at all like someone Z-man should have been afraid of. Seeing this breaks my heart. I hope to heaven the jury has seen this. If they have Zimmerman is going down.

(15,189 posts)Help me, I've just shot this kid and he needs help. He treated him like a wild animal you would shoot if you "were" actually protecting yourself.
Perhaps we should require first aid classes to carry concealed weapons just in case you shoot an innocent person.

(2,730 posts)if they used Zimmerman's past history of violence, it would have been a slam dunk. His past history does not show Zimmerman as a passive person when it comes to aggression.
His incident with the cop, ex wifeor girl friend and the motorist who claimed Zimmerman deliberately tailgated him all the way home, just for spitting gum out his car window.
That motorist claimed Zimmerman kept rear ending his car all the way to his house, after Zimmerman called the Sanford police on him. When the police arrived on the scene, no charges were filed on both men because the motorist claimed Zimmerman kept rear ending his car all the way to his house. He claimed that he thought Zimmerman was crazy and acted like he was going to attack him the way he rear ended his car. Zimmerman was playing cop in that situation also, because Zimmerman claimed the guy broke the law, and he didn't want him to get away after he called the police, so he trailed him all the way home. That is similar to what it sounds like he did to Trayvon Martin. The prosecution should have got that incident into evidence.

(32,727 posts)From child molestation, to violent assaults, wannabe cop stalking-road rage? Meanwhile, Trayvon Martin is the one on trial and treated like a criminal. Sickening!

(11,065 posts)and other witnesses including the first police officer on the scene none of that happened. Mr. Manalo - the guy with the flashlight - testified that when he first arrived and saw Zimmerman he was walking toward him with his cell phone to his ear. Other witnesses saw him get up off of Martin and pace up and down before Mr. Manalo showed up. The first police officer that showed up testified that when he arrived Zimmerman and Manalo were standing talking some distance from the body.
