this was the mood, a theme and a source of inspiration. Many doors were being opened, opportunities opening - yet a long haul still to go.
As the assault from the right grows more strident and overt - let us remember and reclaim the theme... Hear us Roar!

(10,602 posts)Conservative politicians and the GOP have heard that women are apposed to their actions. They are stubbornly choosing to ignore them. They are going to pass laws anyway. And they will use these laws to get rid of the Affordable Care Act. Their message to women across the country is ST-U and stay in your place. And they are planning to double down.
By the time petitions are circulated and we wait until November 2012 to vote, most of the regressive anticontraception legislation will be in place and they will dare women to abolish it. And the GOP may be able to sequester enough women from the ballot box with their election fraud tricks that THEIR VOTE WON'T BE COUNTED OR ALLOWED. Just look at what they are doing to the young, minorities, the old and even women with voter ID laws and gerrymandering.
GOP politicians believe that ONLY GOP MEN should have the right to vote. Just look at Issa's hearings. It should have been forcibly shut down by the women in the audience. Yet they sat in silence.

(48,955 posts)we have assumed that they wouldn't be crazy enough to push this far. I think this issue is shaking a lot of cobwebs from between the ears of the many who only casually observe/pay attention to current events.
Doubt that many see this as being near an 11th hour moment - as they haven't been paying attention - but am guessing that the number of people (men and women) starting to pay attention because of these developments - is growing exponentially.

(10,602 posts)They have already gained the upper hand and will most likely pass some very egregious l legislation that will be used to set precedent. Oklahoma will most likely pass a "personhood" law that will make most family planning illegal and muddy over everything thing else.
I Iowa they are considering passing a law charging doctors with a felony for doing an abortion or assisting with one. They might include the women and any medical professionals.
Women need to strike back at these politicians in some way. They are bold for a reason. That reason is their belief that they can pus the issue by force if necessary.
I believe much worse is in the works.

(48,955 posts)I think some of these state level measures will pass. I hope the over-reach will result in a HUGE pushback, followed by big electoral and legislative reversals.
