FYI - you'd need a licence here to watch it on a computer.

But, how is it we can get it here in France?

(42,239 posts)and it would take me too long to explain. Suffice it to say the Beeb is not raking anything in.
Television licensing in the United Kingdom http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_licensing_in_the_United_Kingdom
Basically - if not here then don't worry about it.
Surya Gayatri
(15,445 posts)That being said, I'm really not overly "worried" about radio/TV fees cross-channel.
Was just gut-reacting to your revelation that UK subscribers have to pay for on-line access to the Beeb.
We over here "outre-manche" are just lucky, I guess!
Peace,

(15,445 posts)included BBC 1 and 2 (back in the day, when cable was just getting started in Europe).
I still have some VHS videos I recorded at the time.
Didn't watch anything else--certainly not the French channels, which are a vast wasteland.
But, both BBCs were removed after about 6 months, never to be seen again. Now, I'm just happy to have BBC World.
You lucky Brits have the best radio and TV in the world--be happy to pay your license fees. You get more than your money's worth!

(42,239 posts)is that from outside the UK it is completely impossible to access our true home page. If you key in www.bbc.co.uk/news/ I bet it changes to something else. What you see isn't necessarily what we get.

Same problem with CNN--try as I may, there's no way I can access the US homepage with my url.
Fortunately, I can listen to Radios 3, 4, and 5 Live via streaming. Before the internet, I did my best to listen on kHz 198, but the reception was maddening.
The only place you could listen static-free was on the Upper Normandy coast.
Long live the internet!!!

(26,877 posts)...Dude, you were her MENTOR! Weren't you watching her??? She was going to YOUR party in the very hotel she died in!!
I think of Whitney's death like Michael Jackson's. Both were essentially killed because their celebrity and wealth allowed them to bribe unscrupulous medical professionals to medicate them beyond what a human can endure.
How ya been?
babylonsister
(171,066 posts)I don't know about Whitney and 'medication', I think she just couldn't shake some demons that were introduced to her.

Surya Gayatri
(15,445 posts)My brother is serverely diabetic and has major leg and foot issues (something called the Charcot syndrome).
I worry about him. He's a doctor, but won't look after himself properly. He's had some alarming episodes (massive coronary, quadruple by-pass and a minor stroke).
Where're the major bucks to cure this scourge? Big pharma makes out better by "treating" it than curing it.

(34,658 posts)I forgot how long black peoples church services can last. Once when I lived in Chicago a friend and I went to a United Church of Christ on Christmas- it was actually the same one the Obamas used to go to - and the service was 3 and a half hours long.
I just can't sit still that long.
