Did the FBI say Zimmerman case wasn't about race?
I've heard this stated a few times and thought "Why would they make such a statement?" And after doing a little research it appears to me, they didn't! The only thing I've seen to back up this "news" is the FBI interview of Serino in which he stated his opinion that Zimmerman wasn't racist.
As detailed in an FBI interview report, Serino described Zimmerman to agents as overzealous and as having a little hero complex, but not as a racist. Serino noted that he had interviewed Zimmerman on numerous occasions and feels like he knows him fairly well, reported FBI agents Elizabeth Alexander and Matthew Oliver.

These same articles will mention "dozens" of interviews as proof that the FBI says race isn't involved. As far as I can tell that's completely disingenuous. Yes, the FBI releases lots of information and interviews with neighbors and the like. Many of these people didn't even know Zimmerman and those that did had nothing derogatory to say. Apparently to some people that is also proof Zimmerman is not racist.
If anyone has found a statement or document from the FBI that states racism was not a factor in this murder, please pass it on. And I have to say I can't beleive anyone can look objectively at this case and think it wasn't about race. At its very core, race is the reason this happened.

And side note, if you haven't seen the document at the link above, be sure to read the bottom of page 1 into page 2 where Serino talks about Zimmerman's story sounding "scripted" like he knew exactly what to say to make it self-defense.
