McDonalds and Visa joined forces on a new website, including what was intended to be a guide for the fast food companys low-wage employees on how to live on their salaries, an average of $8.25 an hour. But the guide indirectly demonstrates how difficult it is to live on the minimum wage.
As ThinkProgress pointed out, the sample budget initially included no monthly allotment for things like food, clothing and heat, and only $20 for something like health care. The list also assumes that an employee will have a second job.
The company appeared to have updated the budget on Tuesday, adding a $50 per month heating allowance. Heres the original image, via a screenshot taken by ThinkProgress

(3 posts)Heating - $0. What?
Savings - $100. Maybe in 50 years you could buy a house.
$27 a day left for everything else?? ... food, gas, etc.
This just goes to show how unbelievably impossible it is to love off of minimum wage.
