no one ever credits Baucus, much less Liz Fowler, for all the great things about Obamacare.

for nothing more than weakening the bill so that it's less than half a loaf.

Without Baucus we would have had the Public Option and stricter regulation. He deserves thanks for nothing. At least from anyone other than the insurance companies who are going to make billions off of the individual mandate.

3. Why do some people feel the need to exaggerate?

I guess they needed to find 10 good things to crow about the Health Care Reform bill, so they threw in #6 on that list (about chain restaurants posting calorie counts).

Folks, when you aren't satisfied with what achievements have actually been made, don't go making stuff up or elevating stuff to the level of vital importance. In the end it harms your argument.

The bill ends pre-existing conditions, regulates price hikes, forces insurers to spend a certain amount on actual care instead of "administrative costs," ends lifetime limits, gives tax breaks to small business, ends co-pays for reproductive care, and extends coverage for those under 26. Those are things to crow about. Don't exaggerate and leave an opening for your opponents.
