(53,072 posts)and I like Tweety. I know it's not a popular view around here, but I've never cared about what's popular.

(27,985 posts)It would be sad for him if the whole world thought he was an ass kisser who only occasionally stumbled upon how to be a journalist in that "whoops, sorry, won't happen again." kind of way.

(6,960 posts)Maybe its an age thing ... I'm 57 years old and I guess I understand the kind of politics from the late 1960s through the 1980s that Matthews was a part of. It was different time when elected officials of either party battled each other, but also knew how to be civil and compromising -- those were better times.
And I think that is why Matthews is one of the most forthright on MSNBC in calling the Tea Party nuts and lunatics.
Now, Chris is of mercurial temperament, but that is what kind of makes him entertaining. His political analysis is pretty good, however.
It sure looks to me like Matthews is a Hillary for President fan these days; he is enamored of the idea of an old pol like Hillary becoming the first woman chief executive. I do remember how much Matthews didn't like Bill Clinton back in the early 1990s when he had a radio show for awhile, he was very critical of Clinton.
But he has come around and most of the time has nothing but praise for both Clintons.

(32,723 posts)BTW: He HATES the Clintons. He talks about the whole "clown car" that comes with them.
In 2008 he was for Giuliani.

(25,183 posts)on the website, I guess I will have to revamp my Sunday morning viewing lineup. I did notice that the last two shows weren't current, they could have been done a month or so earlier. That's usually a sign that business is closing down.

(966 posts)He NEEDS to stop interrupting and talking over his guests!!
And I think MSNBC needs to do away with one of the airings of Hardball for a new show with a new host, possibly in the 7pm slot. Perhaps give the time slot to Joy Reid. I've always liked her and I have thought for a while that she deserves her own show!

(9,841 posts)There were a few half-hearted claims that "education was the key" or some such nonsense. Only Andrew Sullivan had the courage to say that nobody there had any answers. At least he was honest.
It's kind of a shocking commentary on liberalism today, that a panel of 17 liberal-leaning journalists and commentators can't come out and say that radical reform is needed on the economic front.

(32,723 posts)At the most there's talk of catching up to Europe against the wishes of the Republicans.
Nothing uniquely American that other nations will rally around. Republicans thought they had that with "spreading democracy" but the rest of the world reminded them that, 1: We didn't invent democracy and, 2: Democracy isn't about shooting shit up.

The people weren't behind him as they remember.
Joblessness and homelessness didn't vanish as they remember.
The country didn't rise up out of some depths caused by Carter as they remember.
Fitting that the guy was going senile as they don't remember.
