Sarah Palin "grateful" for prenatal testing

I guess Santorum wasn't talking about good people like Sarah Palin, he is concerned about blah people having this information.

Pre-natal testing, Down syndrome and abortion are being debated anew, inspired by GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who gave birth to a son with the genetic disorder in April. When Palin was 13 weeks pregnant, an amniocentesis revealed that her son, Trig Paxton Van Palin, had Down syndrome.

“I was grateful to have all those months to prepare. I can't imagine the moms that are surprised at the end. I think they have it a lot harder,” Palin told People Magazine about her amniocentesis on Friday.

There are risks to the fetus from amniocentesis, including death from miscarriage (.5 to 3.0+% in different studies), infection, and other inujuries. She chose to take those risks.

When my wife got pregnant at the same age, we elected not to have this test precisely because of the risk, since we would not opted for an abortion anyway, unless my wife's life were at risk.

It is the only reasonable answer to why she is grateful for the unnecessary insertion of an unneeded device.

She does, afterall, support the Virginia "vision" which does offer extensive "pre natal" care.
