Benton Harbor, Flint, Pontiac, Hamtramck, and Detroit are just warm-up acts.

Michigan is the testing ground for bettering the notion of voter suppression. It is the right wing wet dream of just kicking out the elected officials they don't like.

Speaking of warm-up acts, the abortion restrictions in Tejas are just warm-ups, too.

The lax gun laws we see.

The list goes on and on.

The right wingers are just getting started.

Meanwhile, the people many on the left look to for support are . . . . . .

or in collusion with those on the right. We have maybe 5 Democrats that are on our side. I don't think they can stand against the rest of these politicians and a corrupt media.

it is really depressing. We have been sliding ever lower since 1980, and no end appears in sight.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/15/michigan-emergency-manager-law-cities_n_2876777.html

The richest nation ever in the history of the world also is a nation of paupers. Most Detroiters, and most all the people all those Michigan cities with emergency managers, have nothing to do with the financial situation. Certainly, there's been corrupt leadership, but nothing compared to the warmongers and banksters.

The decline of Michigan's cities results purely from fiscal policy. Little or no tax money from the city, state or Washington for jobs, homes and schools. Where the people have no jobs, there soon is no money.

And a lady named Elizabeth is trying to find the keys...while most of the other drivers appear to be somewhere else, (maybe on another site called democraticundergroundparking)...Uh oh, there's that acrid smell of blue ink again.

It's amazing, maybe a little disheartening, to go back and read all that stuff about labor between 1865 and roughly 1930. When they were pushing for much more, when they actually thought that labor could, and by golly should, control its own destiny, they had hundreds of thousands of people in the streets. People actually got up out of their chairs and fought for it. That's so far away now that people seem to be unable to conceive of such a thing.

I can't imagine they fought and died for this.

We must realize that the right wing in this country is as determined to take over as the nazis in Germany once were. Everything that they've done has been done to destabilize this country in much the same manner as Chile was in the early 70's. They want to make this country so ungovernable that the people, by and large, will become so sick of the instability and stasis that they will readily accept the authoritarian rule that they will only be too happy to supply. Get ready; we are about to take a large detour into fascism if we don't get serious about thwarting them and their evil designs.

There is probably somebody at ALEC or the RNC trying to figure out how to legislate away the minimum wage at the state level, circumventing federal law as with abortion rights. Maybe eventually they'll figure out a way to return to slavery, or feudalism--whichever looks to be more profitable.

We are watching a puppet show thinking its real. You can not imagine the absolute power of all of that money! We allow legal bribery in the form of campaign contributions and, of course, the SUPER PAC's. We lost our Representative government along with the media and much of the Court system several years ago.
Publicly Financed Elections are the only way I can think of to turn this around. The people currently in control would pull out the stops to stop us!
