He was claiming to be a police officer, but he looked to her more like an armed thug.

Because Boston was a "special case" and it will never happen again.

Her boyfriend, Dorris, was calmer, and yelled back that he wanted to see some ID.

But the man just demanded they open the door. The actual words, the couple say, were, “We're the f------ police; open the f------ door.”

Dorris said he moved away from the door, afraid bullets were about to rip through.

Goldsberry was terrified but thinking it just might really be the police. Except, she says she wondered, would police talk that way? She had never been arrested or even come close. She couldn't imagine why police would be there or want to come in. But even if they did, why would they act like that at her apartment? It didn't seem right.

Goldsberry wasn't arrested or shot despite pointing a gun at a cop, so Wiggins said, “She sure shouldn't be going to the press.”

the sensible thing would be to call 911 and verify that police were sent to her door . Hauling out guns is STUPID .

claiming to be acting in place of and with the authority of the police, such as a neighborhood watch captain.

Therefore this story is hogwash, nonsense, and could never have happened.

Not in America.

And all those stories of police swat teams and regular beat cops shooting people's dogs? Also, complete bunkum and never happened.

"Shoot the pet(s)." will be underlined and placed in boldface on entry team checklists so as not to be carelessly omitted.

Do cats and goldfish merit exceptions?

It appears the police are attempting to argue that this was a "hot pursuit" of a suspect. However, because it was a tip, and the police did not follow the suspect and did not know where exactly to search, the situation was not a hot pursuit.

Police and dogs at entrances, in courtyards, etc.

Then go door-to-door, knocking and clearly identifying yourselves as police requesting to enter.

No need to turn it into a Hollywood action movie.

This is one of those things were, if the couple knew they were the police, they would have reacted differently. OBVIOUSLY they didnt know they were the police.

Someone came to my door of my apartment and pressed an shiny "official" looking badge to the oculus of my front door, knocked loudly and claimed to be the police. It was a PBA police benevolent something or other badge that had probably been found on a roadside somewhere. I didn't open the door to talk to him because I guessed correctly it was just a crackhead claiming to be a cop. Dog knows what he had planned for me had I been gullible enough to open the door for him. If the Benevolent society badge had been just a little more authentic looking however, I might have felt compelled to open up despite my suspicions that a drug addled zombie was on the other side.

Beware, Citizens. When the police have assumed unchecked power, you will have them to fear - and anyone claiming to be them too.
