"Obama hasn't sufficiently addressed race"
"Obama is too timid on race"
"Obama hasn't *immediately* commented on race in America"!!
I'm hearing these lies in some circles of black America.
I'm hearing these lies in the mainstream media by some black and white pundits.
And I'm seeing these lies right here on Democratic Underground.
And that's what they are: LIES!!!
LIES FROM THE PIT OF HELL!!!

Doesn't anyone remember "The Beer Summit"?
What?
You mean to tell me that your memory is that short?
You don't remember when Henry Louis Gates, Jr., a prominent and brilliant Harvard scholar, was *racially profiled* and wrongly arrested on the steps of his own home?
You don't remember when President Obama *immediately* came out in Gates' defense, even calling the cops "stupid" and condemning racial profiling?
Wait...
You don't remember that this incident was one of the first times ANY president *EXPLICITLY* cited race, racism, and racial profiling as "stains" on America? And this incident occurred just 7 months after the president was sworn in?
Of course you remember. NOW you remember.
And now you know that everything you've been hearing and seeing in the mainstream media, on the Sunday talk shows, on some black radio and in some black intellectual circles, on some liberal websites, etc. is simply not true.
Obama has indeed spoken on race before. And he spoke SWIFTLY, forcibly and directly.
He didn't mince words. He didn't make shit up. He didn't even give the cops the benefit of the doubt regarding the HLG affair.
He called it out. Said what it was. Vowed to look into it.
So, the next time someone says to you...
"Obama never discusses race," or "Obama is scared to talk about race," or "Obama never doesn't anything on race," please remind him/her that one of the first incidents of his presidency was the Henry Louis Gates, Jr. affair in which is took the issue of race on DIRECTLY.
Then, ask that person: Do you remember the reaction? The aftermath?

Sometimes the "pictures" or imagery is worth more than a thousand (spoken or written) words, particularly to people, and especially young people.
