Gingrich: Defeating Obama is 'a duty of national security'

TULSA, Okla. -- Newt Gingrich said Monday a Republican win in November is "a duty of national security," taking his attack on President Barack Obama a step further on the day the country celebrates Presidents Day.

"Defeating Barack Obama becomes, in fact, a duty of national security," Gingrich told a crowd of about 4,000 people on the campus of Oral Roberts University. "Because the fact is, he is incapable of defending the United States."

Gingrich, who frequently refers to Obama as the "the most dangerous president in modern American history," again said the country is at risk "someday in your lifetime of losing an American city" from a terrorist attack.

1. Gingrich: Vote For Obama And We Could Lose An American City

Speaking at Oral Roberts University, Newt Gingrich put the fear of terror into the audience.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich declared that defeating President Barack Obama is a “duty of national security” in a speech to students at Oral Roberts University.

“We are really at risk someday in your life time of losing an American city [in a terrorist attack],” Gingrich said, adding that in that context “defeating Barack Obama becomes a duty of national security.”

Gingrich also stated that Obama “is incapable of defending the United States,” making no mentions of his counterterrorism success, including the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

seriously. I think he should ask himself if some person might take this to mean something else...like maybe, take matters and a gun in their own hands ?

I hope this kind of shit will be investigated.

Staunch defender of the constitution that he is.

I say 'staunch defender of the constitution'. This is of course ghetto slang for 'Tea-party-fellating megalomaniac'.

It took a lot less than this to set off crackpots like Jared Loughner and Byron Williams. Here's a serious candidate for a major party presidential nomination saying that the incumbent President is a threat to national security. When someone gets stopped with a personal arsenal on his way to some presidential appearance (we hope he gets stopped), will anyone ask Mr. Gingrich about his reckless, inflammatory comments? Or will the assembled media chuckleheads simply say, "Tut, tut" and decline to draw any kind of connection between Gingrich's ranting and the unbalanced clown with all the weaponry?

we need to keep in mind. If Newtie has his way (and I don't think the GOP will) it's a very small step from demonizing the President to demonizing all those who voted for him. Any mud he throws at the President, by association, lands on those who supported him. Next step? "Register those who vote Democratic onto a special watch list"
Or am I being paranoid?

If he doesn't bother to think through the logical implications of whatever he says to demonize his bete noir du jour, why should we? No, all we need do is sit back and admire the incredible skill with which he mimics actual intelligence.
