Just An Observation On Santorum And His Catholicism.......

I think he is doing great harm to the Catholic Church every time he speaks about his beliefs. I think the Catholic Church needs to muzzle this guy before he does irreparable damage to the Catholic Church. He is so far out there in many of the things he says it casts a great shadow and doubt on Catholicism. The bishops need to distance themselves from Santorum.

this throwback to Pope Pious XII era and forcefully reaffirm Vatican II. To do any less is to further damage their remaining credibility.

They need to correct his terribly wrong assertions on what constitutes Catholic Dogma. They can do this without calling him by name or even by calling him a republican.

3. I'm Was Raised Catholic And You Are Right - Catholics Can Make Up Their Own Minds.....

I guess that's why I'm not a practicing Catholic these days. I still have faith and believe in God but have learned that I just couldn't buy into some of the 'man made' things they wanted us to follow blindly. Some of the issues that Santorum is raising might set off some light bulbs in to many Catholics that are on the edge of their faith and it might just be enough to knock them off the Catholic bandwagon.

Also I don't know that Santorum is helping the Catholic Church bring in new recruits.

Couple this with the whole priest/pedophile scandal - and the Church really has a major problem. Again - I don't think that Santorum is helping any - and if I were the Catholic Bishops - I'd want to distance myself from him.

I'm sure there are quite a few Catholics who realize this is the 21st century, but the official Catholic teachings have changed very little over the centuries. The official Catholic position is still very much anti-abortion, anti-contraception, anti-homosexual, etc.
