Weiner's Gay Pants.

<Snip>
Anthony Weiner strides onstage at Simon Baruch Middle School and grabs the mic to talk to the good people of the Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association. He takes his position beside, not behind, the lectern. He has nothing to hide.

He wears a white dress shirt, sleeves rolled up, and pants that brightly violate the boundary between orange and red. "I don't usually dress like this," he says. He explains that he was just at a rally in Greenwich Village, celebrating the Supreme Court rulings on same-sex marriage. Is he really saying he hasn't had time to change out of his gay pants?

Trumad, Weiner's current campaign was always intended to repair his image. Plus he had money left KittyWampus Jul 2013 #1

over that he'd either have to spend this campaign or ditch.

This current run for mayor was always sort of quixotic. He didn't care if he lost… at least it was a first step back into the political arena.

When it was suggested he run for a lesser office, he wouldn't because to lose a lesser office would leave the stink of failure on him.

So please know that this whole campaign was a long shot and he knew it.

He was just lucky that he was doing so well for so long this time around.

He will lose this campaign and likely run again in the future.

As for gay pants- all I can do is shake my head.

Electing Anthony Weiner Isn't As Funny As It Sounds.
Also, the entire passage quoted in this OP is a quote from Lawrence Downes of the NY Times in a piece from a few weeks back called Anthony Weiner Does Not Care What Everyone Thinks, which can be read at this link:

Just for the sake of accuracy and the fact that this is not Taibbi's headline nor his work. Peace.
