In today's edition of "move your money": Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal, has donated $2.6 million to Ron Paul since December via the Super PAC Endorse Liberty. Politico:
Hes the largest contributor to the super PAC, which reported bringing in $2.4 million in January in addition to its late December haul of $1 million, according to the reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.
In addition, PayPal's Luke Nosek has donated $10,000 to the Super PAC.
PayPal's conservative leanings are no secret. In 2010, the company froze Wikileaks' account, seriously curbing the whistleblowers' ability to collect donations. PayPal claimed Wikileaks was violating its rules against "illegal activity." And in the past, Thiel has donated large chunks of money to right-wing video stuntman James O'Keefe, while other alumni have published right-wing books. Read more at Politico.

(25,183 posts)Ron Paul will never, ever be President, and if you think the GOP establishment would go out of it's way to clobber Santorum in favor of Romney, they'd do ten times as much if Paul could ever look like he'd have the slightest shot at the nomination. Paul's high water mark is going to be Virginia, and I expect that Santorum and Gingrich supporters will vote for him as a way of sandbagging Mittens.
If this fool's spending encourages Paul to go third party in November, it's the best for all of us.

Old and In the Way
(37,540 posts)Every Republican seems to have one or 3 underwriting their campaigns. Why not? The little guy can't afford to invest in a Party whose fiscal agenda is to make the millionaires/billionaires better off at the expense of the bottom 95%.

(1,248 posts)As you say, there's no room for the small contributor. Money rules. The 1% of both parties is funding this election. I would have said "the party of the 1% is funding this election", but I've already been labeled a bad Democrat for owning and iMac, iPhone and iPad, so don't wish to damage my standing any further.
